Literature Text

You wake up cold and shivering. Opening your eyes you realize that you’re still lying on the bed in Eridan’s hive, yet all the blankets have been thrown off of you. They lie in piles around the edge of the bed as if they had been kicked off during the night. You blink, confused. How did they end up there? You’re not a restless sleeper… But you know someone who is. Eridan. Where was he anyway? He wasn’t anywhere in sight and you were starting to get worried. It wasn’t like him to just disappear like this. I mean, usually he would go out for a few hours without telling anyone where he’s going… Although even then he actually remembers to tell you that he’s going out!

You sit up slowly and stretch your arms above your head, gazing around slowly. The room was exactly like it was when you entered it. Apart from the lack of blankets on the bed, that is. Outside the storm is still raging, occasionally sending white flashes of white through the porthole windows in the wall. The chandeliers aren’t lit, allowing the shadows to spread all over the room and you. To be honest, you’re starting to get a bit scared. Your chocolate-gold eyes were wide and your arms were wrapped around your knees as you huddled into a ball. Thunder storms bring nothing but bad memories for you.
Sure you’re scared of storms, but you couldn’t cower here forever. You had to find out where Eridan had gotten to. You have the strangest feeling that he was in trouble yet you couldn’t tell why.  You were worried for him sometimes. Now just seemed to be one of those times.

With a sigh you get up, abandoning the safety of the bed. An idea comes into your head and you smile to yourself. You pick up a blanket, one of the fuzziest, and wrap it around yourself. It covers your head and the rest of your body, warming everything except your face. Which you didn’t exactly feel like covering because of that fact that you were claustrophobic.

And so you proceed to walk down the halls, wrapped in your purple fluffy cocoon of warmth. It was really quite nice. It turned the sound of the rain pounding on the ship into a soft patter, and the loud bang of thunder into a dull rumble. The helped soothe your nerves, keeping you calm so that you wouldn’t curl into a ball in a dark corner of Eridan’s hive. You’d be lost for hours if you did that. Not only is Eridan’s hive ginormous, but it was also empty. Which that if you hid no one would come to look for you. Unlike at your own hive, where your Lusus would come and find you of you didn’t appear for an hour or so.
Apart from the rain, the only sounds that could be heard was the soft padding of your bare feet and… Crying? You pause for a minute, cocking your head to the side and listening for the source of the noise. Could that be Eridan? It had to be. There was no one else here, apart from you. His Lusus was dead and as far as you were concerned, his Lusus had never cried.

You bounce up and down on the balls of your feet to try and keep yourself warm. The wooden floors are icy and cool underneath you, sending small shudders through your entire form. You slowly start to walk forward, slipping the royal purple blanket off your head as you did so. It now hung on your back like a hood and it made you feel like you were wearing a cape. Not a cool cape like Eridan’s, of course. No one’s cape could be cooler than Eridan’s. That was just impossible. Eridan had the best cape ever in the history of capes.

Where were we?

Oh, right.

You continue to walk down the hall towards the sound of the muffled sobs. It confuses you. Why would Eridan be crying? He has no reason to cry. Or did he? To be honest you don’t really know him that well. Sure, he’s your moirail and all and you knew a lot of things about his personality. You didn’t actually know about him. He would never tell you anything about himself, no matter how many times you asked him about himself. You remember the last time you asked him about himself. You must have hit a nerve because he had never snapped at you like that before.

*EPIC FLASHBACK*

“Hey Eri!”
“(_Name_), how many times have I told you not to call me by that?”
“Sorry!”

You giggled and ran over to him, jumping onto his back. He caught you under the legs and spun around in a circle, running around on the cliff top right near his hive. Eventually he collapsed on the ground, his thick framed glasses being knocked off in the process. The force of him falling over had made you tumble off his back and onto the coarse grass. The salty breeze whipped your dead straight hair into your face and you just left it there, not bothering to brush it off.

You beamed at your best friend as you stood up before offering him a hand so he could stand up as well. He gratefully accepted your hand and… Pulled you back down onto the ground. A laugh bubbled up and out, the sound getting carried away by the wind. Soon enough Eridan was laughing with you.
The two of you sat there for a few moments longer before you both stood up. You ran your fingers through your wild hair in an attempt to comb it as you watch him replace his glasses. As usual, you had no luck in taming your hair.

“Eridan?”
“Yeah? What is it (_Name_)?”
“Why won’t you tell me about your past?”

He froze, becoming rigid and not moving even an inch. You stared at him, your brown eyes blown wide with shock. He had never reacted this way to your questions before.
Just as you were getting up the courage to go and touch him to see if he was alright, he moved. A blink and then he turned to you, his movements stiff. You stayed still as he advanced towards you, his eyes burning with rage.

What was he going to do to you?
So there you have it, part 2! And it completely sucks.

Again, another random song choice for the title. I'm just gonna put down the song title here because. So the song is Good Girl by Carrie Underwood.

Sorry for not updating in a while. I've started school again so I don't have much time. But I finally have a laptop now. I'm aiming to finish a couple of the other chapters this weekend/week.

Homestuck belongs to Hussie.
You belong to yourself.
Cover art belongs to anyone who isn't me.
